BE HERE NOW - HOW?

Ram Das wrote his famous book Be Here Now one year after I was born. Always intrigued by the questions more than the answers a life of exploration began. I want to know…

How can we be here now? How can we hold all of the pain and beauty life offers? How can we take courageous actions? How?! It is true that the answer is only in you but we can help each other. There have been times I felt supremely lost and engaged in practices to help me forget my pain and fear. I turned to methods of escape that served my survival for awhile then, when they became the threat, my body and so many brave movers before me reminded me of the way home. I do not have answers but I want to support our exploration. By engaging in practices that allow me to be clear, to reduce the noise and listen to my blood, my organs and my cells that are connected to the earth, the stars and to you. I believe in the interconnectedness of freedom and collective liberation.

ABOUT ME

I began teaching yoga asana in 1996 and served as faculty for Stony Brook University’s Center for Dance Movement and Somatic Learning 2007-2012. Following 20 + years in the NYC dance and yoga community I relocated with my family to the Catskill Region of NY State. In 2016 I founded The Yoga Space and served as Executive Director for a social impact, mission driven, not-for-profit Arts Complex in Sullivan County New York. In response to the growing needs of my family and community following the Covid pandemic, I returned to guiding movement-based practices full-time while pursuing certifications in yoga therapeutics and Trauma Sensitive Yoga through the Center for Trauma and Embodiment. Current projects include an 8-week series in trauma informed yoga serving survivors of domestic abuse, developing a wellness movement center for individuals and families recovering from trauma on 41 acres of forest with a magical little stream running though it.
